Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecological cancer. It ranks the top 4 female cancers in Singapore.

Endometrial cancer usually presents at an early stage. Having mensus restart after menopause is the first sign of endometrial cancer. In a woman who is not menopausal, any change in menstrual pattern can be a symptom which should be investigated.

Endometrial cancer is treated by surgery. The uterus, both tubes and ovaries together with some lymph nodes are removed. Some may need to have radiation or a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy after surgery. For most of the early-stage endometrial cancer, surgery itself is curative.

The risk of getting endometrial cancer can be reduced by taking oral contractive pills. By placing a hormone laced intra-uterine contraceptive device in the uterus also reduces the risk. Having a pregnancy also reduces the risk. Reducing weight is an important preventive strategy in preventing endometrial cancer.
